is the Nintendo 3DS worth it?
i’ve had mixed feelings about this new system. i’ve heard good stuff and bad stuff about it, and i’m not 100% convinced that its worth it.
i have a DS Lite and love it, but i’m getting bored with the games. and the good stuff is coming out for the 3DS soon.
i know i should wait till august when the price drops to $170. but i need personal reviews of the system.

Mark asks…
How to persuade my mom to let me get the Nintendo 3DS?
So, I have been looking at the 3DS. I’ve read reviews, looked at all of it’s specs, and my soul just seems to be set on getting the 3DS. I have more than enough money to get it (and no, I’m not a snobby stuck up rich kid that spends all of her money all the time. My parents want me to always explain (sometimes for about an hour) why I want or need said product. They want to make sure I think of my choice several times. So no, I don’t spend my money as if there is no tomorrow). Anyways, back to the topic of the 3DS. The other day, I asked my mom if I could have the 3DS. I started off by telling her, “Mom, I would really like it if I could buy a newer version of the DS. Since my DS Lite doesn’t play the new games (and soon to be, only games) that come out, I would like to be able to play them. To do so though, the newer DS is required.”
She stopped me right there. She told me that just less than a year ago (which is not quite true. More like a bit more than a year ago) I had bought a new DS Lite. I did this because my other one broke, it had dead pixels on the top. Nonetheless, my mom just stopped the conversation there, ending with saying, maybe if you give your DS away, I might let you get it.
I have found a new owner of my old DS, even giving away one of my games. But I’m afraid to ask her yet again, I almost started hyperventilating before I asked my mom since I have slight problems with my nerves. What if she says no again?
So, this is when you guys come in hand, how can I tell my mom that I really want (notice I say want, not need) the 3DS? She’s one tough nut to crack about this stuff. Any suggestions? (Please, nothing about the “Oh, it is able to connect to the kind of internet we have, or the Mii Plaza or anything. More along the lines why I should (if I am) get the 3DS. Something a not-so-tech-savy parent would understand.) How can I also bring up the price? Knowing it, my mom will buy it on amazon (which so far is cheaper with the bundle of the 3DS and legend of zelda OoT). Please help, and thank you for your time, I really appreciate it.

If you have the money and it is YOUR money, then just go buy one…No adult intervention required. If for some reason this is not an option, then just tell her that you gave away your DS Lite just as she said and ask again. If she says no, ask her why. If she has no reason as to why you can’t buy one with your own money after you got rid of your DS Lite, then you may need to get a new mother.

Paul asks…
Nintendo DS Lite vs. 3DS?
So I got my Nintendo DS Lite about four years ago, and it’s still doing pretty good. I wanted to update, though, so I got the DSi two years ago. It pretty much fell apart within a few months, and I’m back to my DS Lite. I’m considering updating again, and I’m caught between replacing my DS Lite or buying a new 3DS. So what should I get? The way I see it: the DS Lite is more sturdy than newer systems, has the same games (with a few exceptions), and has everything I need. The 3DS has newer features and games, an internet browser, and the Store. The browser on the DSi was okay, but it was kind of slow. Is it the same for the 3DS? Also, are DS games compatible with the 3DS? I think I read somewhere that they are, but I want to be sure. Is the store actually worth using? I used to get a few games here and there on the DSi, but most of them were pointless minigames that I kind of thought were a waste. Finally, how is the battery life with the 3DS? I used to get full days with the DS Lite, but only an hour or two with the DSi on DSi Sound. (Oh, is there still an MP3 player on the 3DS?) If anyone has any professional/user reviews they could point me to, I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks for any help!
Thanks Sam! I’ve been hearing a lot of the same stuff on other sites, too. How’s it built, though? I hear the top screen shakes a bit, and the 3D can go ou-of-range. Any comments?
Yes, I just mean loose. Like if you were to for some reason shake your 3DS, you’d hear it rattle a little. At least that’s what I’ve read in a few reviews . The times I’ve used at, it’s seemed pretty sturdy.

I also own a 3DS, though i haven’t had any problems with the screen shaking. I’m assuming you mean in a ‘loose’ way. As you’re holding your 3DS, your screen will only be as steady as your hands, so this may mean a more challenging 3D experience. It’s true that there is a ‘sweet spot’ where the 3D works, and if your eyes are too close, or too far away, the 3D can go out of range. When that happens, and if you play that way, you can get a headache. But if your eyes are going buggy, simply switch off the 3D effect and play in 2D. I like to play with the effect on half way, so that it’s not such a strain on my eyes, and yet I still get that 3D experience.

Nintendo 3ds. psp Go or slim or Itouch?
I like music and watching videos but I have ipod classic already. Now, I want a console. I can’t decide. I love playing adventure and simulation games. (Sims3 etc). This is my first time buying and my sisters wouldn’t really agree with me if I’d tell them I want to buy. ( I’m using my own savings ) So I don’t really know anything at all.
They say 3ds has limited storage but great graphics. Some say psp slim have free downloadable games while in psp go, you also have to buy games. Itouch,on the other hand, I think has a lot of features, but everything has a price. I really prefer great graphics plus GREAT GAMES and a wifi. I’ve read alot of reviews. But I still can’t decide! Can you tell me the pros and cons of each console? Thank you again! God bless!

Better go for 3ds,because….
PROS:
-3D no glasses, what more can I say?
-3D camera. Take pictures in 3D
-MB of dedicated VRAM, 64MB RAM, and 1.5GB of flash storage
-Processor equal to that of a Nintendo Gamecube!
-Face Raiders (Comes built in, played it in the shop, it’s hilarious!)
-Streetpass (Send and receive info from other 3DS’ automatically, like highscores and things)
-Spotpass (Connect to the internet through wireless and download updates automatically)
-Switch between 2D and 3D with a slider, so it doesn’t hurt your eyes.
-Activity log (Like the Wii, see how much you’ve been playing)
-Mii Plaza (Again, like the Wii, except better! Also send people Miis through Streetpass)
-Mii maker (Take a picture of yourself or a friend and it turns it into a mii)
-Internet browser and shop built in.
-Sound (Plays mp3s straight from SD card with sound manipulation software built in)
-VIRTUAL CONSOLE! Download and play old Gameboy games! Mario! Zelda! Pokemon!
-Backwards compatible with every DS game
-Remakes? Did I mention Ocarina of Time? Don’t think I did…
-Range of colours. (Only blue and black on the release day, but they’ve previewed Red, green etc)
-Shiny
CONS:
-Can hurt your eyes if you leave it on 3D mode and you are under 7

Jenny asks…
Do you have a Nintendo 3DS?
If so, is it really worth more money than an iPod touch? $250? I mean, it’s got REALLY good reviews from all the critics on the internet, but my friend the other day told me that it just looks like a comic book and it REALLY gives you a headache. Plus, are any of the games any good yet? I think the only one worth buying right now would be Pilotwings, but still, that’s only got 30 missions on it. And I’ve never played one before, I’m hoping to find one at the store so I can sample it.

ITS AMAZING! I loved it the first day I got it, and no, it does not give me a headache, only if you play it for about 3 hours on end ![]()
The games are good, Super street fighter IV 3d is the best selling, and best rated so far. Ridge racer is also a really great game. Nintendogs + cats are better than on the DS, but not as much people are buying that.
Nintendo suggests some people should take a break after playing 30minutess, but ive played for 1 hour and a half on street fighter and I felt fine ![]()
You may get headache at the start, but I felt fine after some time. You get used to it.
At late may the internet will be fully useable due to an update.
Its really enjoyable, and im sure you will agree.
I recommend the 3ds to all.
